A Series of Unfortunate Events Part 8

["You heard the man boys, Go ahead and start here then plant charges in the basement and first floor.

Two men with backpack flame-throwers ignite their pilot flames and prepare to go to work...

Carl is moving through the woods as fast as possible away from his house with his mind racing over what on earth just happened. Who was that girl? Where the hell did she come from? Why did she come to warn him about what was going to happen? How did she know? The speed at which he's running seems almost inhuman. He bounds over undergrowth and around trees with the grace of a gazelle and the speed of a fox. He runs until he reaches a clearing where there is what appears to be a run down old farmhouse with an old and tattered barn. The area is quiet and looks as though it has rarely been used. Everything seems to be in a state of disrepair showing excessive wear from weather and neglect. The only thing that seems to have been kept up semi-regularly was the mowing of the grass. Carl approaches slowly from the tree line checking carefully for signs of anyone having been around before him or watching his approach.

It is dawn and the cover of darkness is being dissolved. He walks briskly to the side of the barn and carefully displaces two lose boards in the siding placing them back in their original positions as he enters into the barn through the opening. It's pitch black inside the small space except for a small green glowing light and a few streams of light protruding through the spaces in the siding. Carl blindly moves towards the green light and as he gets closer rolls his fingers across the unseen surface near the green light, pressing a few small buttons causing the light to blink. A door lock clicks signifying it has just unlocked and Carl pushes open a steel door into a very brightly lit room.

[mumbles] So here goes the rest of my life...

Carl is actually Dr. Carl Sharp, a prominent neurosurgeon. A subtly attractive man of a tall stature and medium build. He is half black and white with powerful hazel eyes. At only 32 years old he was a very young and successful doctor out of the Atlanta area. He was recently forced to retire early 4 years ago after he was involved in a major car accident during a conference in Los Angeles. Since then, he has became quickly well renown for his research on neurological disorders as a result of brain damage.

From a child, Carl has always been extremely talented at anything he did. He was more than a genius as his excellence has been far more than just academic. Carl could just pick up any task and adapt with ease and efficiency. It is no wonder why he entered college at the age of sixteen and cut through medical school 3 times faster than the average person usually would. It continues to be no wonder why that barn existed the way it did...
